How This Site Was Made
Amazing Amiga (My home pages)

How The Built With Amiga Software Campaign Website Was Made.

I just thought I'd create this page to let you know which pieces of Amiga software were used to bring you this campaign, in the hopes that it might be of use or interest to somebody.
Creating The HTML
The main workhorse used when actually writing these pages is GoldEd 4 with the WWW Publishing Extensions.
However, this is not the whole story, because extensive use is made of hsc - every single one of these pages has been run through hsc. This makes it much easier to maintain a consistent style and also makes future modifications to the site much easier to implement.
Creating The Graphics
All of the graphics which I created for this site were created in ImageFX 3.1. Additional work was done using PersonalPaint 7.1, giftrans and PNG-Box.

Thanks must go to all the people who created and submitted link-logos, and also to Stu for creating the rather nice BWA title logo (done on his Amiga).

Getting The Site Online
Once the pages were ready, they were uploaded to the Internet via FTPMount and DOpus 4 (which sat on top of Miami 3.0b).
Validating The HTML
There were two stages to the validation of the pages.
  1. Manual checking was done by looking at the pages in AWeb3 just to make sure that I'd got the information that I wanted to present. Further manual checking was done with Netscape 4 under Solaris, just to make sure cross-browser stuff did work. (Thanks must go to Casper, AndyS, Wiz, Kez, Sin, Inertia and Savant for checking that the pages look OK on their browsers and systems too).
  2. Formal validation was done using Kai Hofmann's CheckHTML program on my Amiga. Finally, just for completeness, online verification was done (and is available for all to try themselves, via the logo on the bottom left of each page) via the W3's own online validator (Ok, this bit was not really done with the Amiga, unless you count using AWeb3 to access the validator...)
So there you have it. A complete run-down of all the Amiga software which was used to bring you the Built With Amiga Software campaign - I hope it was of some interest to you.
One thing I should probably mention about this point is that all of the software mentioned above is purely my own personal preference - the Built With Amiga Software campaign makes no recommendations or endorsements of any software, and no such recommendations or endorsements should be inferred from this (or any other) page.
